Good School. Principal is great and believes in the potential of the students. He wants them to have high expectations for themselves and that is a great quality for the leader of a school.
In my previous experience with PGCPS I have had the usual issues expected in any school and resolving those issues wasn't a problem. I use to always question parents who spoke of nightmares with regard to PGCPS and wondered if it was really true. NOW I know there are ghetto unprofessional land mines scattered around PGCPS. If you are unfortunate enough to have to deal with one,,,, GOD HELP YOU! The bad ones can't be fired. They just move from school to school wafting their nasty stench of unprofessionalism, mediocrity and incompetence!
People who work at the office are always moody, like if they are forced to work there, they help the kids because they have to not because they want to ...
Dealing with my son's illness was trying enough, now I am forced to deal with third-world type bureaucratic bull sheet. It is soooo true that a few bad apples spoils the bunch!
My son had an illness causing him to miss some days. The teachers I must say are par for the course, have been easy to work with and do attempt to instill academic excellence. However the administrative staff is unprofessional, ghetto and outright trifling. The attendance coordinator is beyond any sort of redemption and should be terminated post-haste! She failed to properly document doctors notes, failed to check if the numbers in the system where accurate and when mistakes were brought to her attention she became loud, ghetto, obstinate and argumentative.
I had 2 kids go through this school and have a third to go. In my family are Phd's, MD's, MS's from schools such as Howard, Univ. of Maryland, George Washington, Cornell, Tuskegee & Duke to name a few... I mention this so you may get an understanding that we are not some sort of ghetto snipes foreign to the values of a good education.
